  Working principle of electric hammer

The electric hammer is a kind of electric drill, which is mainly used to drill holes in concrete, floors, brick walls and stone materials. The multi-functional electric hammer can be equipped with appropriate drill bits to have multi-functional purposes such as drill, hammer, hammer drill, and shovel.

The electric hammer is driven by the transmission mechanism to drive the piston to reciprocate and compress the air in a cylinder. The periodic change of the air pressure in the cylinder drives the hammer in the cylinder to reciprocate and hit the top of the brick, as if we hit the brick with a hammer.

In addition to rotating like an electric drill, the electric hammer also has the function of moving forward and backward. Usually, the electric hammer includes the function of an electric drill, and some electric hammers are also called impact electric drills. The electric hammer is suitable for large diameters such as 30MM or more.

Working principle: The principle of electric hammer is that while the transmission mechanism drives the drill bit to rotate, it also has a reciprocating hammering movement in a direction perpendicular to the rotor. The electric hammer is driven by the transmission mechanism to drive the piston to reciprocate and compress the air in a cylinder. The periodic change of the air pressure in the cylinder drives the hammer in the cylinder to reciprocate and hit the top of the brick, as if we use a hammer to hit the brick, hence the name electric hammer!

Personal protection when using a rotary hammer

  1. The operator should wear protective glasses to protect the eyes. When working with the face facing upwards, the operator should wear a protective mask.

  2. When working for a long time, plug in earplugs to reduce the impact of noise.

  3. After long-term operation, the drill bit is in a scorching state, and care should be taken to burn the skin when replacing it.

  4. The side handle should be used during operation, and the operation should be done with both hands, so as to prevent the arm from being sprained by the reaction force when the rotor is blocked.

  5. When working on a ladder or working at a height, measures should be taken for falling from a height, and the ladder should be supported by ground personnel.

  Precautions for electric hammer operation

  1. Confirm whether the power supply connected to the site matches the nameplate of the electric hammer. Whether there is a leakage protector connected.

  2. The drill bit and the holder should be compatible and installed properly.

  3. When drilling walls, ceilings and floors, first confirm whether there are buried cables or pipes.

  4. When working at high places, pay full attention to the safety of objects and pedestrians below, and set up warning signs if necessary.

  5. Confirm whether the switch on the electric hammer is cut off. If the power switch is turned on, the electric tool will turn unexpectedly when the plug is inserted into the power socket, which may cause personal injury.

  6. If the workplace is far away from the power supply, when it is necessary to extend the cable, use a qualified extension cable with sufficient capacity. If the extension cable passes through the walkway, it should be elevated or measures should be taken to prevent the cable from being crushed and damaged.

Correct operation method of electric hammer

  1. "Drilling with impact" operation

  (1) Pull the working mode knob to the impact rotary hole position.

  (2) Put the drill bit to the position where the hole needs to be drilled, and then pull the switch trigger. The hammer drill only needs to be slightly pushed so that the chips can be discharged freely without pushing hard.

  2. "Chiseling and crushing" operations

  (1) Pull the working mode knob to the "single hammer" position.

  (2) Use the self-weight of the drilling rig to carry out operations without pushing hard.

  3. "Drilling" operations

  (1) Pull the working mode knob to the "drilling" (no hammering) position.

  (2) Put the drill bit on the position to be drilled, and then pull the switch trigger. Just a light push.

  check bit

The use of dull or bent drill bits will cause abnormal working conditions on the overload surface of the motor and reduce operating efficiency. Therefore, if such a situation is found, it should be replaced immediately.

Inspection of the fastening screws of the electric hammer body

Due to the impact of the electric hammer operation, it is easy to loosen the mounting screws of the electric hammer body. The fastening condition should be checked frequently. If the screws are found to be loose, they should be re-tightened immediately, otherwise it will cause the electric hammer to malfunction.

  Check carbon brushes

The carbon brush on the motor is a consumable product. Once the wear exceeds the limit, the motor will fail. Therefore, the worn carbon brush should be replaced immediately, and the carbon brush must always be kept clean.

  Protective Earth Wire Check

The protective ground wire is an important measure to protect personal safety, so Class I appliances (metal shells) should always check that their shells should be well grounded.

  Check the dust cover

The dust cover is designed to prevent dust from infiltrating the internal mechanism. If the inside of the dust cover is worn out, it should be replaced immediately.
